Description

Camping is defined as the activity, spending a vacation living in a camp, tent, or camper; lodge temporarily, especially in an inappropriate or uncomfortable place.

Even with the definition camping is something that people enjoy it or don’t at all. Camping in our household is something we enjoy. But something that you can choose to do usually is more enjoyable than something out of necessity.

Camping is a skill you don’t realize that you really need until you have to use it. Like all the over skills we have spoken about, being able to protect one’s self and family is a number one. But we have to think about times and situations in which our skill of camping or creating a shelter is more than just a fun hobby. Everybody loves to camp from spring to fall. But what do you do if you catch yourself having to make shelter out in the middle of winter. Could you do it? Do you know what you have to do? Do you know any other ways of making a shelter without a tent? Can you figure out how to start a fire for your family when it seems all the surrounding firewood is damp?

These are questions we need to ask ourselves. We should consider different ways to camp, and practice them. You do not have to wait for it to be cold to try. Start when it is warm, work on your technique and practice. Teach your children and family these same skills. Have you worked on your navigation skills? The number of people who go missing in the woods is outstanding. The fact is it is easy to get lost a turned around. Think about all the factors and how they can affect your family. Remember being able to survive everyday life and a SHTF situation is absolutely critical.

Make learning fun, Be proactive in your preps. Because a good prepper is a practicing prepper. We don’t know what life will throw at us.
